For Such a Time as This
For Such a Time As This
Who among us would have written COVID-19 into the script of our time lines? It is the present over-arching reality in each of our lives. Such a drastic shift of routine coupled with the unknown, creates a stress that provokes anxiety.
For some, the situation is pressing in on every area imaginable.
Such is the case for the women who are clients of the Mustard Seed. Most of them have had to leave their jobs due to no child care. Being hourly workers this means no pay. The familiar structure of consistency which comes with school and after school care is now gone. Now they are home with 3 or 4 children 24/7; preparing meals and supervising schooling. Any type of social connection is gone for now. Couldn’t think of a better terminology than “hemmed in”.
As followers of Jesus Christ we believe everything passes through the Sovereign Hand of God. We also believe He will navigate us through this piece of our journeys, not wasting one ounce of this present pressure to refine us. It is a perfect opportunity of which to take heed : “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) Be still meaning “to relinquish” whatever we have held fast to for security; give up our need of believing we are to be in control of what is not ours to control.
Can’t imagine a more perfect opportunity than this present pressure to be used for good. This is what we are reminding the single mothers as we walk through this with them: to walk very closely with the Shepherd, taking His yoke upon and learning as He leads; not to focus on the what if’s but each day arising and declaring “this is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Ps 118:24.
We are walking with them to the other side, committed to carrying whatever burdens they are unable to while careful not to interfere with needed pressure. Can only imagine the strength and the beauty that is being wrought within them during this unexpected season of growth.
If you desire to contribute toward this fund either with a financial gift or grocery cards please earmark “to the other side” and we will make sure all is appropriated toward any aspect of their needs.
Thank You
